Aussie Day

On Friday 15th February we celebrated what it is to be an Australian. We created our own class flags, looked at Australian symbols, created a picture of what it means to us to be Australian and we spoke and wrote about an Aussie that I admire the most. These activities coincided with a whole school dress up day. The day and lead up to, were enjoyed immensely by our class. The funds raised on the day were donated to the Queensland Flood Appeal.





Speaking & Listening Task


Everyone in Room 26 has been hard at work preparing and delivering their speeches on the topic- "All About Me". This speaking and Listening task has showcased the wonderful organisational skills of many students in the class, as well as their great Power Point skills. So far we have had many interesting and informative presentations that have been carried out in a very pleasing manner. Keep up the fantastic work!

Science Planet Report- A Factual Mini-Book


Students have been given a take home project to do for science. They are to choose a planet in our solar system (it can be a dwarf planet too) and then research and fill out the planet mini-book including some hand drawn and/or printed pictures. It is due Friday 8th March.

Student Councillors


Students have presented speeches and the class have voted! They have elected Taj and Grace as our Student Councillors for Semester 1. These two outstanding students will represent our class at all times, especially during student councillor meetings. 
Congratulations, Taj and Grace!!!


Parent Information Evening


On Tuesday 19th February we held our information session for parents and carers to come along to learn a bit about what will be happening in Room 26 throughout the year and to meet the teachers. We had many parents attend our session and we believe it was a great success. Thank you all for attending and don't forget if you have any questions or queries for either teacher please don't hesitate to make an appointment to come see us at an arranged time.

What's been happening in Room 26...

Over the last few weeks we have been doing some exciting things in our class. Some of those things include working with our Buddy Class. We recently had a fun afternoon with our little buddies creating code to make our Bee Bots move around. We also teamed up with other groups to get our Bee Bots to dance together. Mr Meachem joined in with our technology afternoon and created a secret code for us to use. We had to enter the code into the Bee Bots then they raced against each other. It was so much fun! As part of the celebrations we took part in a parade to show off our wonderful traditional costumes from around the globe or our orange outfits. Orange is the colour chosen to represent Harmony Week. End of Year Party!!

Room 26 will be having a Christmas Party on Wednesday 18th December. The students can bring their own games and electronic devices to play with after recess (it is their responsibility). We will then have food and party games in the afternoon. Could Year 5 girls please bring a plate of savory and Year 5 boys bring a plate of sweet food to share. Thanks for your support.
